Amanda is my goddaughter. She’s someone whom I can say to her, “I knew you before you were born”, being that her mother and I have been friends since the 7th grade. I’ve had the pleasure to watch her grow from a cute baby into beautiful woman. This painting depicts one of my favorite flowers, the dahlia, in various stages of its life, starting from a tiny bud. I see Amanda as the beautiful bud in the front surrounded by the love of her family, all of which are various ages.
