Ingrid Hyde's paintings are a celebration of color, spirit, and scale. Concerning herself with the delicate relationship of nature as it thrives within manmade constructs, Hyde strikes a balance between the natural and synthetic. Creating emotional connections between her painted strokes and surreal subjects, her playful images resonate with bold, vibrating colors and patterns that are layered with symbolism, and suggests spatial depth with floating fields of brush-worked color. Ingrid uses brave and contemporary painting techniques of spraying, pouring, and splattering, including mixed-media textural elements, that blend to create a Pop-Fusion style unique to her joyful aesthetic.

ARTIST STATEMENT I celebrate the delicate balance of relationships: personal, emotional, and nostalgic connections. Giving thought to idealistic beauty and surrealistic imagery, I strive to engage the viewer with relationships: natural and synthetic, conversations of inner dialogues encompassing spoken and unspoken words, layered with symbolism, political thoughts, and environmental concerns. My role as an artist and art teacher are intertwined. My intentions are playful and reminiscent of my first interactions with art. Much like my students and their gleeful engagement of blending the imaginative and genuine, playful and joyous discoveries, to create beautiful and inspiring art. |
